Jim Minatel on Converting Blogs into Books

BooksMuch has been said up to now about what role blogs can play in book publishing.  One of the more common questions is "can a successful blog be converted into a book?"  The short answers is yes, especially since our group at Wiley has published two blog-to-book projects in the last 18 months (Naked Conversations and Lifehacker).

To be fair, the question is much too complicated for a simple yes/no answer.  Fortunately for us, Jim Minatel, our group's acquisitions director, took the time to put his thoughts together and posted them here.  Jim touches on all the key aspects including legal, author reach and the editor/publisher's point of view.  It's an important and interesting article to read regardless of whether you're currently thinking about a blog-to-book project.
