BookTour: Chris Anderson's New Startup
How intriguing. I just read this teaser (yes, I'm a bit behind on my RSS feeds as I took a blogging break over the long weekend!) from Chris Anderson of The Long Tail fame and I can't wait to hear what his new venture is all about. I guess we'll have to wait till later this week when he announces more details at BEA...
Hi Joe,
Another service you ought to check out is Eventful.com (disclaimer - I'm the founder).
We're the largest events search engine and among other things, we're aggregating a lot of book events around the country and are always encouraging author and publishers to take advantage of what we offer -- it's free, and a great way to reach a wider audience.
One of the most popular features of our site is Eventful Demand, which lets people create grass-roots "demands" for desired events to happen in their town. It's perfect for book authors seeking to do a book tour where there is a real audience just itching for the author to come visit. We already have a bunch of authors using Eventful Demand to invite their readers to "demand" which cities they should visit when touring. Again, completely free service, and worth checking out.

Hi Brian. Thanks for the info on your site. I just took a peek at it and found it interesting... In fact, I'd say Eventful.com could be well-positioned to implement the service I talked about in my "Local Events Maps" post here: http://jwikert.typepad.com/the_average_joe/2007/04/local_events_ma.html
Have you guys ever considered implementing this sort of feature?
