Sprint Ambassador: Round Two

M610_2Sprint contacted me again a week or so ago to see if I'd be interested in participating in the next round of their "Ambassador" program.  This is the deal where they send bloggers a free phone with unlimited service for 6 months; when the 6-month deal expires the blogger gets to keep the phone.  I was part of the first round of the Ambassador program last year and decided to try out the new service as well.

The phone, a Samsung M610, arrived Friday afternoon and is a very cool device.  It has many of the same multimedia features I enjoyed last year with their SPH-A90 phone, but it also has a nice GPS system built-in.  I'm only two days into the trial but I've already tested just about every feature in the darned thing.  In short, it's a great product with a lot of power.  It's also one of the thinnest phones I've seen so far, which is nice since I hate lugging around anything other than my trusty Blackberry.  It also has a subset of the Sirius satellite radio channels, which is convenient for those times when I don't want to carry my larger XM Inno device.  (I still prefer the XM line-up over the Sirius one though!)  The Sirius reception is less than perfect: Those little half-second signal drops during a cell phone call are a lot more noticeable when you're listening to a song.

I shudder to think how much it would cost per month to download all the music, e-mail all the pictures and utilize all the other services I'm playing with...but so far, so good as far as reliability is concerned.  I'll be using this product a lot over the next six months and will post more about it as I work my way through the trial period.
