Marketing in Second Life
Wagner James Au, co-author of our Second Life: The Official Guide, offers his thoughts on why current marketing efforts within SL aren't working. As this Komjuniti summary that he cites in his blog post notes, one of the key deficiencies is that participants "would like to interact more with the brands on the site."
He makes some good points about the ways users are avoiding the ads, but I think his most valuable point is the fact that a new medium like this requires new thinking. The same thing that worked on TV or in print isn't going to cut it on SL.
