Business 2.0: Forcing Journalists to Blog?

I’m a big fan of Business 2.0 magazine. I also think it makes a ton of sense for journalists, writers, editors, columnists, etc., to blog…but only if they feel passionate about blogging and what they’re blogging about. You’re not likely to have a happy ending if you’re just blogging because you’ve been told to blog.

That’s apparently what’s happening at Business 2.0, according to this post on the Influential Interactive Marketing blog. On top of that, the Business 2.0 journalists are also apparently being asked to produce a minimum of 1-2 posts per day. Some days I have a lot on my mind and wind up with 2, 3 or more posts on this blog. But there are plenty of days when I have nothing to say though, so I don’t post at all. The blogs I tend to read the most are the ones that have several posts per week, but they’re clearly not forcing out 1-2 minimum per day.

I hope Business 2.0’s plan doesn’t backfire. If they really enforce this policy though, they might wind up making some darned good journalists extremely uncomfortable and frustrated.
