I caught up with three former colleagues of mine recently. Renee Wilmeth, Tim Ryan and Bryan Gambrel have ventured off to create their own self-publishing operation called Literary Architects. Here’s how they describe the business:
Literary Architects partners with select authors to help them successfully self-publish quality books. We combine the quality and standards of traditional publishing with the flexibility and innovation of self-publishing. Authors benefit by receiving professional guidance while remaining in control of their own books. We take the time to read and understand each book and each author's goals. We then create a custom publishing plan that ensures a high-quality book appropriate for its target market. We do not require that authors sign their copyright over to us; authors retain all rights to their material. Authors pay an initial fee to have their books produced, and we use new technology to quickly print and distribute the books.
They were also written up recently in Publisher’s Weekly. If you’re looking to try the self-publishing service option, you couldn’t find three brighter or more passionate people to work with.
