AI that caught my eye

Here are three quick links to AI stories that got my attention this week:

  1. First up, how amazing would it be to convert 2D images into 3D? This article on Wired talks about how AI is making this a reality.
  2. My alma mater, Purdue University, is behind this next one... As Purdue professor Shriram Ramanathan puts it, "the brains of living beings can continuously learn throughout their lifespan. We have now created an artificial platform for machines to learn throughout their lifespan". Very cool.
  3. And finally, from my former O'Reilly colleague Mike Loukides, here are a few AI predictions for the months ahead. I'm particularly intrigued by AI-as-a-service and AI-assisted programming.
