I guess this is my week to review books with odd
titles. My friends at Pearson were kind
enough to send me a review copy of Margaret Mason’s No One Cares What You Had for Lunch:
100 Ideas for Your Blog. What a
great little idea generator!
Although it’s an extremely quick read, my copy will become
more of a handy, long term reference. Every
blogger should have a copy of this book. The next time you’re tempted to write a goofy
post about something totally meaningless, flip this one open to a random page
and I’ll bet you’ll come up with something better to talk about. Honestly. It’s got me thinking about the approach I’ve been taking with my own
blog and how I need to make some adjustments.
Here’s a good example: My blog tends to be pretty matter of
fact without a lot of personality. Don’t
worry…I’m not going to force bad humor on anyone. I do think this blog lacks personality
though. I’ll consider it a challenge to
try and inject a bit more of that into future posts.
I highly recommend this book to anyone participating
in the blogosphere. If you know a blogger who tends to make lots
of lame posts, buy them a copy as a gift; think of it as a service for the rest
of us. Wait a minute… Does that mean my friends at Pearson are
trying to tell me something?!
